Privacy
SysCap is a local tool. It has no account, shows no ads and collects no usage data. This page lists everything it reads, keeps and sends.
What SysCap reads on your computer
- Names, sizes and dates of files and folders you choose to map. Never the contents of files.
- Running programs: names, paths, CPU, memory and input/output counters.
- Network connections: local and remote addresses, ports and transfer counts. Never the data that is transferred.
- Only if you turn on file activity tracing (it needs administrator rights): which program opened, read or wrote which file.
All of this stays on your computer, in SysCap's runtime folder next to the program. Deleting that
folder removes it.
What SysCap sends
Update checks. Shortly after it starts and every 6 hours, SysCap asks api.syscap.net which
version is current, and downloads a newer one if there is one. The request contains no identifier, no version number and
no information about your computer. You can turn update checks off in SysCap's menu.
Error reports, only when you choose to send one. When something goes wrong, SysCap keeps a report on your computer and offers it to you. The review window shows exactly what would be sent: what happened, the SysCap and Windows versions, your graphics adapter and screen size, the kinds of panels you had open, the error message and where in SysCap's code it happened. User names, the computer's name and folder paths are removed before the report is even stored. Nothing is sent unless you press Send; Don't send deletes the report. Sent reports are kept for 180 days to fix problems, and then deleted.
Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent to anyone else.
Our servers
Downloads, update checks and error reports are served by Cloudflare on our behalf. Like any web server, it sees your IP address while it answers a request; we do not store IP addresses, and our service keeps no request logs. Error reports are limited to a few per minute from one address to prevent abuse; the address is used only for that count.
